Heartland Games is held annually and is sanctioned by the Florida Sports Foundation. The top five finalists in each age category and each gender qualify to compete in the Florida Senior Games State Championships. For over 20 years, the Heartland Games has been hosted by South Florida State College, (SFSC) to promote physical fitness, good health, and a fun, competitive spirit among adults 50 and older who live active lifestyles. In 2022, SFSC and the Highlands County YMCA joined forces to hose the 2022 Heartland Games. This year, South Florida State College has graciously allowed the Highlands County Family YMCA to take over in executing the Heartland Games.
