The YMCA is committed to enriching the lives of young children by offering a wide array of extracurricular activities designed to promote their growth and development. These activities go beyond the traditional classroom setting and encompass a variety of options such as sports, arts and crafts, music, dance, swimming, and more. These programs are not only enjoyable but also educational, fostering physical fitness, creativity, teamwork, and social skills. Through these extracurriculars, kids have the opportunity to explore their interests, learn new skills, and make lasting friendships in a safe and supportive environment. One of the many extracurriculars we offer is karate!

Karate offers a multitude of benefits for children, encompassing both physical and mental aspects of their development. Through karate, kids not only acquire essential self-defense skills but also learn discipline and respect, instilling a sense of responsibility and adherence to rules. The practice improves their physical fitness by enhancing strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination, while also promoting cardiovascular endurance. Beyond the physical benefits, karate cultivates focus and concentration, boosting attention spans and academic performance. As children progress in karate and earn new belts, they gain confidence, setting and achieving goals, and develop valuable life skills. The emphasis on principles like perseverance and integrity molds their character and instills lifelong healthy habits, creating a well-rounded approach to personal growth and physical fitness.

*Karate is not offered during summer months (June, July, August)
